Effect of Beating on Morphology of Straw Fiber
This paper mainly focused on the effects of different refining methods and beating degree on the shape parameters of straw fiber.Wheat straw pulp and reed pulp were refined with PFI mill and valley beater respectively under the laboratory conditions,and then the fiber shape parameters containing fiber length,curl index,kink index,fiber coarseness and fines percent were measured by Fiber Quality Analyzer(FQA).The results showed that shape parameters of the two kinds of pulps have similar variation,and the fiber length,curl index and kink index of fiber PFI mill treated were higher than that of fiber valley beater did.And the fines percent of PFI mill pulp was lower than that of valley beater.The curl index and kink index rose along with the increase of beating degree when beating with valley beater,but decreased when beating with PFI mill.The coarseness and length of the pulp treated with PFI mill decreased faster than that of the pulp treated with valley beater.
