Pectinase Lowers Cationic Demand of Peroxide Bleached Deinked Pulp
Dissolved substances(DS),which can also be called anionic trashes, such as pectic acids and lignin-like substances, are released during the recycling of American 8# old newspaper.Pectin models and DS were treated by pectinase and the results showed that the enzymatic treatment decreased the cationic demand significantly.Analysis by GPC (Gel Permeation Chromatography)for samples with different enzyme dosage and biotreatment time showed that with the increase of enzyme dosage and treatment time, the relative molecular weight of the degraded pectin decreased. This research expanded our understanding of pectinase activity by proving that pectinase is responsible for reducing cationic demand of peroxide-bleached old newspaper deinked pulp, the DP of pectin has effect on the cationic demand.
