NEW METHOD OF MEASURING BACTERIAL BIOLUMINESCENCE

INTRODUCTIONBacterial luciferase catalyzes the oxidation of a long-chain aliphatic aldehyde to the corresponding fatty acid and water with the emission of light in the visible range.The enzyme is interesting not only for its capacity to emit light which is not specific for the flavin monooxygenases,but also for its application in bioluminescent assays.
