COMPRESSIVE PROPERTIES AND FRACTURE FEATURES OF SYNTACTIC FOAMS
Compressive behavior of syntactic foams is investigated.Experimental resultsshow that the cylindrical specimens have two different deformation stages and thefoam density has significant influences on the mechanical properties. In addition, themacroscopic fracture features are strongly dependent on the specimen aspect ratio(i.e.length/diameter).Furthermore,the finite element models of syntactic foams andconventional foams are used to further investigate their failure mechanism.
