An Competition Equilibrium Model on the Diverse-Source Water Supply Market Created by Interbasin Water Transfer

Water diversion is to change the uneven spatial and temporal distribution of water resources through engineering projects. Interbasin water transfer projects change the demand and supply of water resources and lead to supply of diverse sources, thus complicating the allocation of water resources. The market mechanism is an economic method to optimize water resource allocation. This paper, on the basis of examination of the characteristics of the water market, competition structure of the water supply industry and conducts of decision makers, with resort to economics, the supply chain theory and mixed integral programming, builds a competition equilibrium model of the diverse-source water supply created by interbasin water transfer projects. Iterative algorithm is adopted to seek the equilibrium point,the logic of model building and solution are illustrated, to provide administrators with a direct method of quantity analysis in shaping water supply strategies.
