Trust,Reciprocal cooperation and Regional Innovation:A Perspective of Social Capital

Innovation can be broadly defined as an increase in the variety of goods, services and proceedings, rather than a purely technological advance.Traditionally, innovation was considered as being often generated through a series of discrete steps in research, development, and production. The perspective fails to recognize the importance of social capital as a key to innovation. The purpose of this article is to examine the effect of social capital on innovation at the regional level. The article argued that social capital also influences innovative activity besides R&D and human capital, and regional authority should also take initiative to building social capital for regional innovation.
