Consideration of Running on Treadmill Using Lower Leg Electrical Impedance
We have analyzed running for 90 minutes on a treadmill using lower leg electrical impedance. The subjects wore the three types of running shoes in this experiment. An acceleration of the ankle joint angle and surface electromyogram (EMG) of Vastus lateralis (VL),Tibialis anterior (TA) and Gastrocnemius (GC) were measured. The subjects also replied the questionnaire that was including the feeling of the shoes and fatigue before, during and after the running. The impedance data during the running was compared with.the acceleration,EMG and questionnaire. As results,we could detect the characteristics of the movement which reflected the ankle joint angle and adapted to the character of the shoe, and evaluate the stability of the movement. We have found that the existence of sense of incongruity of shoes was influenced a change of impedance waveform. The measurement of lower leg electrical impedance might be able to monitor running form and/or to evaluate physical fatigue during treadmill running.
