Writer Individuality in Handwritten Hiragana Characters
This paper describes the measurement and analysis of writer individuality expressed in the shape of handwritten characters. We have examined handwritten Japanese Hiragana characters for variations in shape in relation to writing speed. We conducted experiments with six subjects under three kinds of writing conditions:high, normal and slow speeds. The analyses provided evidence that writer individuality expressed in terms of character shape is closely related to the writing speed.
