Development of an analyzing system for evaluation of knee-joint motion using video images
Previously,we have developed an analyzing system of the knee joint motion based on the pendulum test. However, two wired acceleration sensors employed for the measurement of knee joint motion were the factors causing noise and limited the applicability of the system. Therefore,in the present study,to achieve a major breakthrough in the analysis of knee joint motion,we have developed a new analyzing system, which analyzes video images obtained at the Pendulum Test.A circular marker with a diameter of 68 mm was attached to the heel of each subject. Then, knee joint motion was recorded with a CCD camera connected to a computer.Locus of the marker was analyzed with the particle filter. With a common personal computer, the newly developed analyzing system could analyze the knee joint motion (video images:640x480 pixels and 20 fps)within 70 seconds. In conclusion, the newly developed analyzing system of the knee joint motion using video images is useful and will contribute to the remote motion analysis using a widely used Web camera.
