Relations between Paternal Beliefs about Friendship and Parenting Practice in Nanjing
The study explored the relation between paternal beliefs and parenting practices related to friendship.Fathers reported their perceptions of function of friendship for their own and parenting practices of childs friendships. The results suggested that paternal beliefs can impact his parenting practices through two ways: one is directly from paternal perceptions of his own friendship(emotional support)to parenting practices(guidance and rules)and another one is from paternal perceptions of his own friendship to his attitude to childs friendship and then to parenting practices. We also found two distinct effects of perception-attitude interaction which suggested that fathers attitude toward childs friendship could play as a moderator between fathersperceived function of friendship and their prohibiting behaviors of childs friendship.
