Free Labeling of Emotion in Children Ages 3 to 6 Years:The Different Developmental Trend in Two Label Tasks

Object:This study explored the different age trend under two free labeling situations in children.Method:130 children ages 3,4,5,and 6 years were assessed on their ability to freely label facial expressions of emotion and emotional situations.Result: Accuracy of free labeling of emotion increased rapidly at ages 3 to 5 years.For free labeling of facial expressions,it reached to a plateau after 5 years,for free labeling of emotional situations,it continuously increased after 5 years.Labeling emotional situations were better than labeling of facial expressions,this showed Face Inferiority Effect.Conclusion: theres the different age trend in two label tasks and Face Inferiority Effect.
