The creep behavior analysis of PMMA with different stress and under different temperature
In this paper,tensile creep tests of PMMA (MDYB-3) had been performed at different stress levels at temperature 20℃,50℃ and 75℃,and the strain-time curves had been obtained. The effects of stress level and temperature on the creep compliance were studied. The PMMA creep strain-time cure had obviously three periods (the instability regime,the steady regime and the rupture regime). The creep strain-time data of PMMA showed that the creep strain rate in the steady regime increased with the temperature and stress increasing,and the rupture stretch was increasing accordingly,but the failure time was reducing with the temperature and stress increasing; at low loading,the rupture regime was quite short,the creep curve was mostly possessed with the instability regime and the steady regime. The empirical formula: Chen theory,Norton formula and exponential expression,were proposed for describing three phases of creep behaviors of PMMA respectively. It found that Chen theory could describe the instability period quite well,Norton formula was with good agreement with steady period,and the exponential expression was used to account for the rupture period very well.
