Optimal Maintenance Policies for a Cold Standby Redundant System with Two Units
A certain type of missile director is a cold standby redundant system.To achieve high reliability and availability,a maintenance policy based on preventive replacement is presented.The maintenance policy involves component replacement and spare provision,where preventive replacement and corrective replacement are combined in replacement policy and orders are released when a specified time reaches or a failure occurs.A non-linear programming model is established to minimize the average expected maintenance cost subject to the constraint of system availability.Based on Markov renewal process,formulas for expected cost and system availability are derived.Genetic algorithm is proposed to search optimal alternatives.Numerical examples are given for Weibull distribution of life time.
