Conceptual Framework of Information Modeling for Construction Projects
Although information technology (IT) is being applied to various aspects of construction projects during their lifecycle,there is a need for an integrated IT system so that authorized users can record,view,query and update information when needed.Through analyzing key issues of project management over project lifecycle,this paper proposed a conceptual framework of information modeling for construction projects (PIM).The framework consists of three key components in a network-based environment: (1) a master data management system; (2) a project information portal (PIP); and (3) a various number of applications.A successful PIM system would provide a representation of the project process to facilitate exchange and interoperability of information in digital format.
