Around the world, more than 1.5 billion people in more than 110 countries generate their electricity from HFO (heavy bunker) and LFO (light fuel) diesel generators. This burden often prevents them from investing in other vital sectors. The soaring prices of oil and a foreseeable lower availability of fossil reserves are a bigger concern for those countries, having less energy access capacity than the big rich countries.
