Operation Strategy Of The Pitch System In A Variable Speed Pitch Regulated Wind Turbine
For a variable-speed pitch regulated (VSPR) wind turbine system, the blades will pitch to a feathered position when wind speed reaches the cut-out wind speed. This article examines the possibility for the turbine to extend its operation wind speed over the present cut-out wind speed. Pitching actions have been considered for fatigue load reduction under extreme wind condition. The final result reveals the possibility of operating in high wind speed without inducing too much fatigue load.
