The Sliding Mode Control for the Variable-Pitch System of Wind Turbine
The variable-pitch system that increases the energy capture at low wind speeds and enables an efficient power regulation at higher than rated wind speeds is widely used in the MW level wind turbine. This paper utilizes the mathematic models of close and open pitch operation of hydraulic pitch system, adopting the sliding mode control (SMC) to carry on a simulation on the 1 MW variable-speed constant-frequency wind turbine pitch system. The simulation results show that SMC strategy adopted in the variable-pitch system can achieve an accurate pitch angle adjustment.
