Using Acquisition and Alliance Networks to Gain Competitive Advantage:A Case Study of Shanda
Today,how to enhance a firm s competitiveness has become a hot topic for both academicians and practitioners.In this paper,we first posit that the number and heterogeneity of acquisitions and partners in alliance networks have positive effects on a firm s competitive advantage.Additionally,we also suggest that the positive effects are respectively moderated by the environmental dynamics of industry in which the firm is.Then,by carefully analyzing Shanda,a famous online game company in China,we validated and verified these propositions.The results suggest that,in highly dynamic environment,firms should try to use acquisitions and alliance networks to enhance their core competence and competitive advantage.
