Modeling Sustainable Business Protocols with Constraint Logic Grammar

With ever-increasing complexity of automated business interactions between autonomous agents for different organizational or individual entities, there is growing need in the explicit representation of business protocols. For sakes of sustainable protocol development and protocol interoperability, such representation is required to be declarative, expressive, and reusable. However, the currently popular protocol model of finite state machine does not satisfy these requirements. In this paper, we propose a declarative representation of business protocols based on the notion of constraint logic grammar which satisfies these requirements. A semantics based on constraint logic is given to such representation. A semantic-Web based 3-layer framework of interaction modeling is presented.
