Shape Memory Alloy Devices for Monumental Cultural Heritage Retrofitting
Within the EU funded research project WIND-CHIME(Wide-range Non-invasive Devices toward Conservation of Historical Monuments in the Mediterranean Area),several passive control devices utilising the thermo-mechanical properties of a Cu-based shape memory alloy were conceived, designed and implemented. This paper summarizes the experimental validation of one of these passive control solutions,as achieved in a laboratory environment in view of the actual installation in a masonry aqueduct in Cyprus.
