Adaptive tuned dynamic vibration absorbers working with MR elastomers
This paper presents development of an Adaptive Tuned Dynamic Vibration Absorber(ATDVA)based on magnetorheological elastomers(MREs).The MRE sample based on silicone rubber and carbonyl iron particles was fabricated and tested. An ATDVA using 30% volume fraction MREs as adaptable spring was designed and manufactured. The MRE ATDVA worked in shear mode and the magnetic field was controlled by a coil and a controllable DC power. The controllable dynamic performances of the absorber were measured by using a vibration testing system.Experimental results indicated that this absorber can change its natural frequency from 75Hz to 150Hz,100% of its basic natural frequency.A real time bang-bang control logic is proposed, the simulation results indicate that the control effect of MRE ATDVA can be improved significantly.
