Structure damage detection method based on modal strain energy
A newly structure damage detection method based on modal strain energy is presented.This method can predict precisely locations and severities of damage in three-dimensional structure only making use of pre-and post-damage modal parameters that are available for only three modes of vibration.To verify the utility of the proposed method,six damage cases are simulated with a three-dimensional frame structure finite numerical model(FEM)and use the proposed method to detect these cases.Results illustrate that the proposed method is accurate in damage localization and preliminary in severity estimation.This method is simple and hopeful to be employed into the offshore platform damage detection.
