Damage Detection for Crane Girder subjected to Moving Load
Many studies for monitoring and damage detecting of structures have been performed by using piezoelectric sensors,and a number of damage detecting method have been developed and renewed.In this paper,authors tried to develop a monitoring system for crane and focused on that crane moves for the work,which means the actuating points are not fixed.Because actuating points are moving all over the girder supporting the crane,the damage points of structures possibly can be detected wherever they existed.The damage detection methodology is illustrated experimentally using a simply supported beam with a bolted splice at the center of beam.An impact load and a moving load test were performed for the crane girder.Both of them,loosening of the blots on the web and flange connection plate of crane girder are assumed as the damage cases.The potential damage identification is carried out according to output measurement data through FFT in the frequency domain.The coherence-based NDT method was used to identify the damage.The frequency of the first mode decrease as the damage increases.The ratio of magnitude of the third mode to the first mode could be used to find the bolt loosening.
