Safety evaluation of infrastructures based on long-term measured data of structural health monitoring systems
A number of structural health monitoring systems have been implemented in civil infrastructures over the world,in particular in China. The mega amount of data has been accumulated by the operating structural health monitoring systems. The issue to utilize the data to assess the conditions of the civil infrastructures and make decisions is required to solve urgently. In this paper, the typical structural health monitoring systems for offshore platform, bridge, and dome roof structure are introduced. The measured loads and structure response are analyzed. The probability distribution function and spectrum of vehicle loads are statistically obtained by using the measured data of structural health monitoring systems for bridges in combination of traffic flow prediction theory. Then the model updating technique based on interval analysis theory is proposed to consider uncertainties. To improve the model updating precision via decrease impact of uncertainties, the principle component analysis(PCA)in combination with artificial neural networks is employed to obtain the relationship of modal parameters and ambient temperature. In this way, finite element model of a structure can be updated without perturbation of temperature. For offshore platforms,a base shear capability obtained based on structural health monitoring is employed to evaluate the safety of platform structures.
