The GRB Follow-Up Project at the Xinglong Observatory:2006-2008

We run the GRB follow-up system at the Xinglong Observatory of National Astronomical Observatories of Chinasince 2006,as part of the East-Asia GRB Follow-up Observation Network(EAFON).It mainly comprises of the 80-Cm TNTand 1-m EST telescope, and can automatically respond to the GCN alerts. Both telescopes slew relatively fast, being able topoint to a new target field within about 1 min upon a request.Whebever available, the 2.16-m NAOC telescope is also used.In 2006,the system responded to 15 GRBs and detected 7 early afterglows.Six GRBs have been detected in 2007 among the18 follow-up observations. However, only 1 out of the so far 5 GRB observations in 2008 were triggered in the early phase, probably because the current Swift pointing strategy does not favor near real-time follow-up in East Asia.
