Preparation and Characterization of Nano-TiO2/Sisal Fiber Materials
By sol-gel processing,a nano-titanium dioxide/sisal fiber composite materials were successfully prepared by the manner of physical adsorbing TiO2 sol on the sisal fiber modified in alkali solution. The Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR),X-ray diffraction (XRD),Scanningelectron microscopy (SEM),and DRS (diffusion reflection spectra) were investigated in this work. The experiment results showed that the TiO2/sisal fiber materials displayed a good anti-ultraviolet property and a wider range absorbing ultraviolet ability. The FTIR measurement analysis showed that the some peaks were disappeared or decreased after alkali degumming treatment, which implied that alkali degumming was an effective means for removing the hemi-cellulose in the sisal fiber.SEM also showed that the chemical modification with alkaline solution could induce some morphological changes to the fiber surface. These were helpful for the TiO2 sol to absorb on the surface of sisal fiber.
