Deformation Mechanism of Dielectric Polymer of Plasticized PVC by Electric Field
The deformation response of plasticized poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC gels) by an electric field has been considered to results from their electric charging and their interaction between electrodes, although the detailed processes have not been clarified1-3.Here we carried out some experiments to investigate the deformation response of PVC gels.A method was proposed to measure the force acting on the samples was proposed by using a force sensor. The force between and electrode and PVC gel measured was from 0.18mN to 8.37mN (about 0.06MPa) for the variation of DC fields from 100 V to 1000 V.The investigation of the rheological behavior of chemical reagents in response to an external electric field,it was found that PVC particles were flock together to the anode electrode and arranged in line-like tracks under the electric field due to the contribution of the plasticizer dibutyl adipate (DBA) as a solvent.DBA was moved from the cathode to anode. The interaction of charges two electrodes may cause the creep deformation of PVC gels.
