Influence of Alkali Treatments on Structure and Mechanical Properties of PTT Fibers
This study investigated the effect of alkali treatments on structure and mechanical properties of PTT and PET fibers with SEM,FTIR,Loss of weight,Tensile curve and Elastic Recovery.The results show that alkali treatment at high temperature of 100℃ may make the surface of PTT fibers partly dissolve to form a lot of micro-holes,and bring about much more loss of mechanical properties than alkali treatment at room temperature;Alkali resistance of PET fiber is superior to that of PTT fiber at room temperature,but alkali resistance of PTT fiber is superior to that of PET fiber at 100℃;PTT fibers may retain good mechanical properties and elastic resilience through alkali treatment under the appropriate temperature and concentration.
