Study on Hydrolysis and Ammonolysis Behaviors of Vinylsulfone Reactive Dyes

Using isopropyl amine as a model compound for simulating amino groups on protein fiber,hydrolysis and ammonolysis behaviors of vinylsulfone reactive dyes were studied under various conditions by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).It was found that there were two hydrolysis products and two ammonolysis products in the hydrolysis and ammonolysis processes of vinylsulfone reactive dyes.Ammonolysis reactions were always much quicker than hydrolysis reactions in the competitive reaction system at 50~70℃ in pH 7~11.The preference for the ammonolysis reaction decreased with pH and/or temperature rising.The quantity ratio between the two ammonolyzed dyes was related with pH,temperature,relative concentration of isopropyl amine to dye.
