Effect of Sol Treatment on Colorfastness of the Cotton Fabrics Dyed with Reactive Dyes
A novel sol used in textile finishing was prepared by sol-gel method with tetraethoxysilane and tetrabutyl titanate. The cotton fabrics were dyed with reactive dyes and treated by the sol with the process of double-padding followed by drying at 60℃ and curing at 160℃ for 3 min.The results about the fastness properties of the fabrics showed that the dry crocking fastness was improved by half a grade, and the fading percentage decreased by nearly 30.0%.In a treatment, the calculated sol weight gain was 5.4%,and the △E value of the fabric dyed with a reactive red dye decreased by 58.0% after treated with the sol and exposed in the Xenotest for 120 h.The treatment with the sol had no obvious effect on the hue of the fabrics. These results indicated a favorable application performance using this sol.
