Light Stability of Silk Fabrics Coated with Chinese Lacquer
Three kinds of samples,i.e.silk fabric, silk fabrics coated with lacquer and with lacquer mixed with 15% tung-oil,were artificially light aged and their tensile strength and rates of elongation were measured. The results showed that tensile strength and elongation at break of both pure lacquered fabrics and tung-oil lacquered fabrics were descended but gently, and the decreasing amplitude of tung-oil lacquered fabrics were smaller than that of pure lacquered fabrics, both smaller than that of silk fabrics.SEM observation showed that some tiny holes and cracks appeared on both kinds of lacquer films, which were a little more and larger on pure lacquer films than on tung-oil lacquer films.According to X-ray diffraction determination, crystallinity degree of coated samples was brought down by light irritation slightly, smaller in reduction than silk fabrics.
