Research on the Seam Properties and Sewing Element Compatibility of Intimate Apparel Fabrics
In the intimate apparel manufacture,many sewing problems such as thread breaking,slipped stitch and etc.still remain in the underwear production due to its special materials,the complicated structure and high sewing accuracy,which reduce the wearing property and affect the product quality.Seam properties including the breaking strength,the elongation rate at break and the breaking work are important index of evaluating underwear quality.In this study,an experiment on the seam properties for five mostly used typical underwear fabrics was investigated under different corresponding sewing situations covering different threads and stitches.The AUTOGRAPH AGS-D series testing equipment auto-controlled by a computer was employed in the test.On the basis of testing and analyzing the mechanical properties,the effects of different threads and stitches on the seam strength of fabrics were studied.Based on the lots of contrast experimental data,SAS software and the methods of multivariate cluster statistic analysis and correspondence analysis were used to reveal the optimum compatible solutions of different fabrics,threads and stitches which would guide underclothes manufacture.
