Enantioseparation of Aromatic Amino Acids Using α-Cyclodextrin-Modified Cellulose Fiber
A novel kind of cellulose fiber grafted with α-cyclodextrin was synthesized in an alkaline solution, and the structure was identified by FTIR.Then the functional fiber was utilized to chiral amino acids monitored by using spectrophotometer. The effect of time on the inclusion interaction was examined and the binding constant of inclusion process was determined. The experimental results indicated that the inclusion interaction between α-CD and amino acids satisfied the Benesi-Hildebrand equation and the L-isomer has stronger affinity with α-cyclodextrin than D-isomer.The molecular recognition of the cellulose fiber grafeted with α-CD to aromatic amino acids was the order: phenylalanine>tyrosine>tryptophan. The grafting of cellulose fiber with α-cyclodextrin improves its molecule sensing ability.
