Workload-Heart Rate Response During the Repetitive Triangular Exercise Tests
We studied the heart rate (HR) response to the gradually increasing/decreasing workload (WL) during bicycle ergometer exercise. The relationship between the WL and HR response was different between gradually increasing/decreasing phases. In gradually decreasing phase, the WL decreased but HR did not decrease in any of the subjects. Then, the correlation coefficient between the WL and HR decreased remarkably. On the other hand, the indices of the autonomic nervous activity estimated from the R-R interval time-series and Borgs ratings of preserved exertion decreased around the positive WL peaks in all the subjects. Therefore, there might be a tight relation between the indices and Borgs scale in the gradually decreasing phase.
