A Study on Heart Rate Extraction using Auto-correlation Function for 0-200Hz Sounds

A heart rate extraction has been examined from heart sounds using computer signal processings. At first, the heart sounds have been translated to time-depending spectrum using short-time Fourier transform (STFT).Next,a frequency range of 0--200 Hz has chosen to calculate an autocorrelation function,in which first sounds and second sounds of a heart are clearly included. As a result, heart rates have been successfully extraced for normal, normal (young age),dilated cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, mitral valve prolapse and lung hypertension cases, but not for hypertension and cardiac arrhythmia ones.
