Application of DEA to the Construction Safety Management Assessment System in China
DATA envelopment analysis (DEA), which is a type of linear programming method for appraising relative efficiency, is used to measure the relative efficiency of decision-making units and avoids any functional specification to express production relationship inputs and outputs Since safety management assessment is characterized with multi-input and multi-output, DEA is applied to analyze its efficiency. Meanwhile, the assessment of the safety management in construction of China in 2005 was used as an example to find the efficient state and to point out the direction of optimizing the management and minimizing the risk. In addition, some advice is provided to suggest how to improve the construction safety management in China to control risks in construction industry.
