Safety and Reliability of 2-Component Series System with Geometric Process Repairs
In safety-critical systems, the system states can be divided into three kinds of categories: Operating States, Failed-Safe States & Failed-Unsafe States. In the paper, a model with different safety degrees is built for safety systems in terms of some practical backgrounds. When the system fails, different defect states have different measures. For Failed-Safe States, the repair process is adopted immediately and for Failed-Unsafe States is not. After the repairs, the system cannot be as safe as new. The repeated repairs have some influences on the operating times, repair times and the coverage to different failed states. A geometric process is employed to describe this repair process and the indexes of the system safety are given. Finally a numerical example is presented to illustrate the results obtained in this paper.
