Research on a decision model for condition based maintenance

A model is presented to recommend at each monitoring check point the optimal maintenance action based upon measured condition monitoring information to date of the monitored system in this paper. The true state of the monitored system, which is described as the residual life, is unobservable, but is assumed to be correlated with the measured condition monitoring information. First the concept of delay time is used to define a two-stage failure process. Secondly the relationship between the true state of the monitored system and the observed history of condition monitoring information is established using stochastic filtering theory, based upon which the decision optimization model is presented correspondingly Then the method of estimating unkwown parameters in the model is presented. Finally a simulated numerical example is given to demonstrate the modeling ideas.
