Redundancy optimization for multi-state system in the presence of common cause failures
The redundancy allocation problem for multi-state system in the presence of common cause failures is studied. The optimal model is formulated with the objective of minimizing the cost in order to provide a desired level of reliability. The universal generating function is adapted to analysis the reliability of multi-state system, and the optimal model is solved using genetic algorithm. The results show that common cause failures make the redundancy allocation strategy different.
