The effect of a free-repair warranty on the age- replacement strategy for a repairable product
Long-run expected cost rate is considered to be the one of most important factors when customers choose a product. In this paper, Age-replacement strategy is adopted and long-run expected cost rate models are developed for a single-unit repairable product considering whether a free-repair warranty is adopted or not. We also derive the optimal replacement period from these two types of models respectively. Moreover, an intensive discussion and comparisons have been made about how the free-repair warranty introduced in the product with an increasing failure rate effects the long-run cost rate and the optimal age-teplacement period form the term of customers. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the impact.
