Offshore LNG Solution-LNG Floating Production Storage and Offloading Plant

LNG-FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) is an effective and realistic way for recovery, storage, transportation and end-use applications of the marginal gas fields and the offshore associated-gas. However, there are still many key technologies unsolved before building a real LNG-FPSO unit. Many characteristics of LNG-FPSO, such as restricted space, platform motion, LNG sloshing in storage tank, without considering in the onshore projects, are the most rigorous factors and need to be taken into account during design. In this paper, the overall layout of typical LNG-FPSO unit is first reviewed. The leading liquefaction technologies and processes are then compared and discussed.The applicability of the main systems and key equipments of storage,offloading and power supply,taking into account the effects of the vessel motion and limited space,are analyzed.
