Methods to Focus Acoustic Energy of Thermoacoustic Engine
A well designed transfer line has been verified to be able to amplify the output pressure amplitude of a therrnoacoustic engine(TE),which offers a feasible way to focus acoustic energy of the engine to its load. Some transmission characteristics of acoustic amplifiers are studied based on linear thermoacoustics theory. Furthermore, a novel cascade acoustic amplifier and a Helmholtz resonator are proposed, which show strong amplifying ability. In experiments, a two-stage cascade acoustic amplifier amplifies the pressure ratio from 1.177 to 1.62 and produces pressure amplitude of 0.547MPa with nitrogen of 2.20MPa as working gas. A Helmholtz resonator amplifies the pressure ratio from 1.22 to 1.49 and produces a pressure amplitude of 0.44MPa.
