Visualization Study of the Effect of Gap Thickness of Two-dimensional Narrow Channel on He Ⅱ Film Boiling
The visualization experiments of superfluid helium (He Ⅱ) film boiling were carried out with the transparent two-dimensional narrow channel of several gap thicknesses.The gap thickness was varied from 0.155 to 3mm. Film boiling in open space is also investigated for comparison. In the present study,the behavior of vapor layer during boiling was investigated using the shadowgraph method in the range from atmospheric down to saturated vapor pressure.It is found that the boundaries of film boiling modes change depending on the gap thickness.In initial phase of boiling,the interface of lambda transition, that is the He Ⅱ-He I interface,was clearly observed in the cases of the gap thicknesses of 0.155 and 0.6mm.
