Development of High Frequency Pulse Tube Coolers at CAS
This paper reviews pulse tube research in the past several years at Technical Institute of Physical and Chemistry, former Cryogenic Lab. One main work is to develop high frequency, high efficiency pulse tube coolers PTCs for applications at 80K. Four different sizes of coaxial PTCs have been developed to provide the cooling power of 0.1-6W/80K. They cover most of the requirements at 80K. Another work is to develop high frequency high efficiency PTCs to satisfy the applications below 60K. This includes single stage PTCs with and without multi-bypass that can reach around or below 30K and two-stage pulse tube refrigerators for even lower temperature. At the same time, we are carrying out investigations on non-metal PTC.
