Relative characteristics of ethanol production of sweetpotato

Sweetpotato as no-grain crops will be a kind of promising feedstock for fuel ethanol production.Fuel ethanol manufacture is industrialized process.The energy efficiency,production cost,sustainable supply of feedstock of sweetpotato and sanitization of fermentation residue are the key factors to be evaluated.Several varieties of sweetpotato were investigated through ethanol fermentation taking into account both the effects of fermentation and production costs.Characteristics including the content of fermentable sugar,consumption of raw material,yield of ethanol,ethanol productivity rate and quantity of fermentation residue were compared in different varieties and growth period of sweetpotato.The resuits indicated that choose appropriate variety and harvest in appropriate growth period not only reduces ethanol production cost,but also decreases the quantity of fermentation residue.
