Metabolic engineering for industrial sweetpotato in marginal lands

We are developing an industrial sweetpotato to produce various useful components such as starch, antioxidants and functional feeds in marginal areas for sustainable agriculture. For this, transgenic sweetpotato plants with enhanced tolerance of multiple stresses were generated under the control of an oxidative stress-inducible peroxidase promoter. In the presentation, our on-going studies on various gene expresston systems including intragenic vector, metabolic engineering in transgenic sweetpotato for functional materials such as animal feeds and antioxidants, and proteomic analysis will be introduced and discussed for the collaboration.
