Establishment of efficient transformation system using embryogenic suspension cultures and rgeneration of transgenic plants expressing exogenous genes in sweetpotato,Ipomoea batatas(L.)Lam.

An efficient Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation system was established using embryogenic suspension cultures of sweetpotato(Ipomoea batatas(L.)Lam.) cvs.Lizixiang and Xushu 18.Using this transformation system,oryzacystatin 1(OCⅠ)gene,bar gene,LOS5 gene were successfully introduced into these two cultivars,respectively,and a large number of transgenic plants were produced,some of which were proved to show excellent traits such as stem nematode resistance,herbicide resistance,drought tolerance,salt tolerance etc.
