Breeding and utilization of purple flesh sweetpotato

New purple flesh sweetpotato varieties Ningzi No.1 and Yuzi 263 have been selected by method of hybrid breeding.The high yield cultivation technology of Ningzishu No.1 was studied in Nanjing.Results indicated that fertilizer had significant effect on the biology yield and marketable root yield.But no significant effect had been found on other characters.Increasing the amount of fertilizer applied could enhance the yield of biology.The highest marketable root yield could be achieved when the 50kg/667m2 compound fertilizer and 10kg/667m2 potassium fertilizer was used together.Purple flesh sweetpotato can be used not only for table food but also for processing to different products.The deep purple sweetpotato may be a good source of extracting natural anthocyanin.Ningzi No.1 and Yuzi 263 can be used as table food and as materials for processing snakes because of middle anthocyanin content.
