Breeding of new sweetpotato varieties with orange-flesh for processing

Eighty-nine sweetpotato germplasm resources with orange flesh were introduced and appraised from domestic and overseas,a set of basic parents were screened and evaluated.These basic parents were jnduced to flower and cross was conducted to breed new sweetpotato varieties special for processing Liancheng orange-flesh dried sweetpotato.In order to cut down the period of breeding,the method of“twice selection in a single yearat the early screening stages was used.As a results,a set of new lines fit for processing of orange-flesh dried sweetpotato were screened,after years of testing,two new sweetpotato varieties with orange-flesh,Jinshan 630 and Jinshan 763,were bred,both varieties are high yielding,good quality and fit for processing.
