Breeding research in Xuzhou Sweetpotato Research Centre

The process of sweetpotato breeding research in Xuzhou is reviewed in this paper,including four main contents as fol lowed：breeding of new varieties,organization and coordination of national sweetpotato breeding work,selection and utilization of elite sweetpotato parent material,improvement of breeding technologies and methods.27 varieties were bred in past in Jiangsu Xuzhou Sweetpotato Research Centre(XSRC).Those varieties took an important role in sweetpotato production in China.For many years,some works had been doing,for example,presentation on the projects of national sweetpotato new varieties breeding and national regional trials,innovation of sweetpotato breeding parent materials and improvement of breeding methods,all which accelerated the development of sweetpotato breeding research in China.
